Facing Your Giants

Everyone has giants in their lives that come and knock on their doors, threatening to take away their confidence, peace, and happiness. Even though the giant, Goliath, that David faced in the bible was a real human being, our giants are not humans but rather things like, fear, doubt, insecurity, habits, etc. These giants, when we are confronted by them, can seem larger and scarier than they really are.

It may seem impossible some days to stand up and fight against them especially when they have been a part of our lives for so long. But no giant we ever face is too big for God, because the giants before us will never be greater than the God who is beside us. God is always standing with us, fighting for us every single day of our lives, and too many times we forget that we have the creator of the whole world fighting our battles for us. Deuteronomy 3:22, "For the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory". When we forget that, we think we have to fight theses giants alone to have any relief from them, but that is impossible for us to do and we will eventually become too tired of trying and always loosing that we will give up and allow the giants to take over our lives.

The devil goes about each day, wanting us to forget that God is fighting for us and loves us, and tries with his power to make us believe that so we will not be able to defeat the giants he has sent us. Its during the hard times in life that we see Satan acting the strongest which is why we find ourselves standing face to face with giants. He uses those hard times to his advantage knowing we are weaker and more vulnerable to giving in to his lies.

One of the most important things we need to do everyday of our lives, is surrender to God and fill our minds with Him and His promises, so that we will never allow Satan to convince us that God is against us and has abandoned us. The more we grow closer to God, the easier it will be to hold on to Him every day, and than we can surrender those giants to Him and realize we don't have to fight them alone. With the strength of God, we can stand up and face our giants with the confidence knowing that God is standing right beside us, and holding on to the sword of the bible that can kill any giants not matter how big or how small they are.

I have my own giants, and for years I allowed them to consume my mind and bring we farther away from God. The biggest mistake I made was thinking I had to fight them alone. We will always have giants, but because I know and believe that God is fighting with me, I have the confidence to take Satan's control he had over my mind, away from him, and face my giants along side God. A life controlled by giants is not the only life, and there is a greater one waiting if we accept God and His love and give Him control over our lives so He can fight for us.
