Stepping into the Unknown

Life can throw unexpected situations at us that can be sometimes difficult to handle. As humans, we love the comforts of our lives and planning out every situation we go through or have to face. The problem with that, is that there is only one person who knows exactly what is going to happen and has control, and unfortunately that person is not us. We may think we can control what happens, but really the only thing we have control of is how we react and respond to the situations we find ourselves in. Are we going to surrender and say yes to where God is leading us, or are we going to ignore His calling and stay in our comforts?

I am not saying that our comforts are bad, because they are not....unless they hold us back from following God. God will put us in situations for His purpose, to test and strengthen us, even though we may never understand why. Instead of being afraid of the unknown, we need to trust God and step into uncharted waters with faith. He will never put you in a situation that you can not handle and that will not be for your good. If we truly have faith and trust in God, change should never scare us, but when it does we can pray for peace and change those worries into trust. God is our map, our guide through life, and will never leave us alone in any situation. If we look to Him, we will never have to worry about being lost.

“Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders”

This quote from a song called “Oceans” by Hillsong, is a great reminder that as Christians we should long for God to send us into the unknown so we can grow and do what He has planned for our lives. Imagine all the amazing things you will miss out of it you stay back where it is safe and never venture out.

A couple of years ago, my family and I moved from Ontario to Saskatchewan for my dad's new job. That was one of the hardest and most terrifying things I have ever had to do, but instead of staying where we were comfortable, we followed God's calling and because of that we have had amazing opportunities and experiences that would never have been possible if we held back. Sometimes we may have to follow God blindly without knowing what to really expect, but if you allow Him, He will be the hand to guide you through the mountains and valleys of life.  I can see how God has taken those situations in my life and used them for my good to bring me to where I am today. Never be afraid to trust and unknown future to a known God, because when you do, amazing things will happen.
